The Debate Over Windows Vs Linux – Which One Is Best?
Both Windows and Linux operating systems have their strong points and drawbacks. With Windows, you have the obvious fact that it’s so popular that most applications are made to run on it. With Linux, you have a free operating system that gives you more security and flexibility. This article will show you several reasons for choosing either Linux or Windows based upon your preferences.
People that use software on a daily basis will definitely have no problem with Linux; however, regular people that are used to Windows might have some problems. This OS, Linux, is great for people that interact with raw technology on a daily basis, but it’s not so great for those that are used to the simplicity of the Windows operating system. The main difference between the two operating systems is that Windows is geared for those that want to use programs, whereas Linux is made for those who want to understand how they work. New versions of Linux are released consistently year after year. Windows can be installed by clicking a few icons whereas Linux is a little more help getting started. Unless you do a little bit of research, you still will not know if Linux is for you. It’ll take a little bit of time, but if you are willing, you can probably learn Linux very easily.
You might think that it would be hard to find support if you use Linux. A lot of the technical support that can be found, is dealing with problems for users of Windows, mainly because Windows is used by most people. This isn’t actually the case, though. You might have to do a little searching, but you will find some good tech support for Linux. There is an informal way about forums, but that is where you will need to go to get help. In most cases, if you mention a problem or question on a Linux forum, you’ll get an answer quite promptly. Technical support is available, but it will be different from when you buy a computer with Windows, and you get official support.
If you are tired of the security problems with Windows, you might want to try Linux because their security is much better. When you are looking at computers and security is an issue, then Windows would be your last choice. Being so popular is one reason, and the way it is designed is the other. If you have spyware or malware, then you probably have Windows on your computer and the same for other troublesome programs, as well as viruses. To eliminate issues such as viruses and malware, you might want to try Linux, because they almost never have those problems. With Linux, you can quit thinking about who will be invading your privacy, and you won’t need your anti-virus software updated constantly. Just because the computer you are using has Linux and is safer than Windows, you still need to be careful about who you share personal information with.
Everyone using a computer will not like the same system. As you know Windows has good points and bad points, but so does Linux. Everybody has their own likes and dislikes. Some people like learning about the inner workings of things such as a computer, and Linux might be better for them, in that case. Simple and easy is the way most people want their computer experience, and that would make Windows their best choice.
